About the property:
Biksthang Heritage Farmhouse is built on the estate of the Sharkahlon family. Settled in this area in the early 18th century. Sharkahlon Kalzang Thendup, the first Sharpe to have set foot in Denjong (Sikkim), was the foremost disciple of Gyalwa Lhatsun Chenpo (Patron Saint of Sikkim), who was deputed to search for the first Chogyal (Dharma King) of Sikkim. Fourteen generations of the family have lived here. The original house built by Sharkahlon Tshering Thondup, a prominent minister in the 18th century, stands to this day. The place was selected due to its remoteness, as a safe haven from marauding invaders from across the borders. The main floor of the house now serves as the reception centre. The present generation of the family has converted the ancestral property to a modern resort. It is their cherished dream to extend their hospitality and share their culture with the world. Their aim is to operate a viable resort and farm to maximize their collective economic potential. Villagers are encouraged to provide auxiliary services and their family members are on staff at the resort.
